"Albania cannot stay infinitely a candidate country of European Union. Now we are a EU candidate country, which means that it is like saying that I am ready to get married, but nobody is ready to marry me so far.” This was the message of the Prime Minister Edi Rama in “Vienna Western Balkans Summit 2015.”

We need to go forward and for this reason should be opened negotiating chapters towards EU membership. This is the way we can say to our people that our country is in Europe. Europe has got strict rules which should be obeyed, but to respect the rules does not mean to keep us under exasperated and isolated,” said Rama. 

Meanwhile the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, emphasised the importance of cooperation between the Western Balkans countries to achieve their common objective, integration.

“What is important is to fulfil standards of EU accessibility requirements. We should work jointly together to achieve our common goal," said Hahn.
