Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has reacted on Friday after the President Ilir Meta decided to turns back in Parliament the law that predicts the demolition of the National Theater.
Veliaj was expressed disappointed because according to him, the law would give Tirana a new, modern Theater, designed by one of the most known architects of the generation.
"The return of the Law that would give to our Tirana a modern New Theater, designed by one of the most talented architects of our generation, was a disappointment. Today's decision brought a benefit because it clearly informed us that how are the parties divided in Tirana. Those who destroyed "Zogu I Zi" or Scanderbeg Square a decade ago are the same today. They are all together against development. As we waited 40 years for a new theater, we will wait another 40 days for Parliament to revote in September and pave the way for the modern project," said Veliaj.
He added that on these forty days, he will collaborate with the theater community to be ready after the law passes in the Parliament.
