Safe Food on Schools, Hospitals, Daycares, Says Minister Peleshi

Public Procurement Agency and National Food Authority signed on Thursday a "Memorandum of Understanding" in presence of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Niko Peleshi.
The agreement was signed with the with the aim of protecting and guaranteeing food safety to help customers with special health and nutritional sensitivities such as kindergardens, daycares, dormitories, hospitals, asylums, etc.
This agreement's purpose is cooperation between the parties in order to increase the impact on food safety by setting certain standards so as to improve the quality of food for particular groups of consumers under the care and responsibility of these contracting authorities.
Minister Peleshi said that this Memorandum was very important because food security is one of the biggest challenges the Albanian government has and that its determined to continue and win this long and very difficult battle.
"This co-operation agreement aims precisely to put an end to the abusers who market expired or rotten products, thus strengthening co-operation by installing a set of legal standards that, which must be fulfilled by subjects before they can be given a green light to participate in public procurement.
I do not want to worry anyone now, but I must say that the NFA's control for this category of subjects and operators will be specific," said Peleshi during this ceremony.
