Tirana Municipality in collaboration with Ministry of Infrastructure and 'Hemingway Fan Club Albania', announced on Monday the placement of the installation of a steam locomotive at New Boulevard, in sign of commemoration of the old train station.
Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj declared that Tirana residents will very soon travel with electric trains towards Rinas and he added that this installation will serve not only as physical memory but it also sheds light to humanity's, political and science memories.
"With the possibilities we have currently, I believe that within next term Tirana citizens will have the opportunity to experience the first trip to rinas in an electric train.
This locomotive was produced in 1951. This coincides with the year when the first consortium that preceded the EU, the steel and coal union, was created.
In fact, the first steamers in Europe were made to enable steel and coal trade.
By the agreement of '51 was born what today is called the European Union, the negotiations with which we will open next year," said Veliaj.
Among other things, Veliaj stressed in Tirana work is not done by the municipality only, but also by fantastic boys and girls who work hard everyday to beautify and vivify the city.
This steam locomotive serves as a symbol of the unstoppable journey Tirana has undergone, as Veliaj declared.
