With the proposal of the two Socialist lawmakers, Ervin Koci and Erjon Brace, the Parliamentary Committee of Economy voted in favor of a new draft law, which aims to facilitate the procedures of VAT reimbursement for business.

"We will establish a Special Director in the Directorate General, which will be entitled to approve reimbursement of VAT. Thus, the decision will not be taken by the tax departments in districts, avoiding abuses and freewheeling interpretations of the law," said Koci.

Reimbursement of value added tax has been a major obstacle to businesses. Although the law has been amended from time to time, including even the automatic reimbursement principle, the business still faces difficulties. For this reason the opposition proposed a radical intervention.
