The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, was received on Tuesday with state honors by Captain Regent, Stefano Palmieri and Matteo Ciacci, in the framework of a state visit to San Marino.
The Head of the State praised the very good and friendly relations that have been consolidated for centuries between Albanian and San Marino, as well as the high values that the two peoples share, generosity and hospitality.
"The main purpose of my visit to San Marino is to translate the consolidated feelings of reciprocal friendship into strong economic and cultural cooperation. The San Marino Government's latest decision to open a resident Embassy in Tirana will give a new impetus to these relations. Direct contacts between Albanians and San Marino citizens will be the best guarantee for friendly future and cooperation between the two countries," said Meta.
He discussed with the Regents of San Marino also on the challenges and threats that the two countries have at these moments, particularly from the immigration crisis and the organized crime activity on both sides of the Adriatic. They agreed to have a better coordinated cooperation between the state structures of both countries.
