"Ambassadors are good people sent to lie on behalf of their governments" Henry Wotton, an English notable, famously said in the beginning of the 17th century.
Four centuries later Edi Rama, an Albanian Prime Minister, brought the following de facto change to this adage: "Ambassadors are good people who lie to their capitals on behalf of their host government".
This was the comment made this Thursday by the opposition MP, Genc Pollo, as later in the day a farewell party of the EU, Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and US Ambassador Donald Lu, would take place.
His office confirmed that he had politely refused the invitation to attend.
