Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, received on Sunday the artists from all over the world who have painted their murals in Tirana streets, thus leaving their mark in the capital.
The mayor added that municipality has begun a tradition which will repeated every year.
Veliaj thanked the artists for providing Tirana with this fantastic experience which has given the city a breath of fresh air and vibrant colors.
"These fantastic artists have helped us with the art of road in Tirana, they have made graffiti, have given political messages, sometimes radical, sometimes provocative.
Tirana has had a very good tradition from 2000 to 2011, at the time of Edi Rama, where the painting of the palaces conveyed something different from the gray colors we inherited since the time of Cold War and all the Soviet communist legacy.
Many of the facades painted by Albanian and foreign artists have given the city more flavor. At least we will have less aesthetic pollution.
I am here to thank all the artists with all my heart for honoring us. I believe that we have started a tradition that we will repeat each year with our artists, to make sure that Tirana maintains its reputation as the city of colors" Veliaj announced.
"MuralFest Tirana 2018" was born as fruit of cooperation between the Municipality of Tirana and the Italian lab 167 / B Street from Lecce.
Through this project the municipality aims to promote mural art in various public spaces where different facades of the city serve as canvasses and galleries for artists.
