A spectacle full of surprise that started on Saturday evening in 'Mother Teresa' square opened the 14th edition of the Balkan's oldest moto-rally, "Rally Albania", where 180 people from 150 different places will compete within the dates 9-16 June in four categories: Moto, Quad, Cars and SSV. The contestants were part of the big feast organized in Tirana.
The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was there to greet the contestants, and declared that what makes Tirana different from many other cities its the liveliness of the city in every hour. Veliaj listed some of the most important initiatives undertaken by Tirana's Municipality, as the planting of 120 thousand trees, the coming of 4 thousand 'Mobike' bikes and the revolution in public transport with electrical buses.
But the surprises seem to be endless this summer. The Mayor said that Tirana citizens may watch the World Cup with their families in a giant arena that is being set up in 'Scanderbeg' square.
The contestants of Rally Albania will follow an 2000 km itinerary, for seven consecutive days, from north to south, starting in Tirana and visiting almost every touristic sight of Albania. An area dedicated to the race was set up in "Mother Teresa" square, where people can meet the contestants and look at their vehicles. The award ceremony for Rally Albania will take place in Tirana, June 16.
