Berat's Castle is becoming one of the main tourist attractions of Albania. The highly important historical monument has had a great increase in the number of visitors, local and foreigners. According to the Regional Directorate of National Culture, for the period of January-April 2018, the Castle has been visited by 27.468 people, 12 more comparing to the same period last year. The positive trend is confirmed even in the first days of May, with visitor's number remaining at high levels. Berat's Castle is an ancient construction built on hill 187 meters above sea level, on the left of Osum River's gorge. It has a history dating many centuries BC, being notable for the Illyrian fortifications and the churches within its premises.
