Autism is threatening public health in Albania. At least according to the health experts. Speaking at the meeting of the Work, Social Issue and Health Parliamentary Committee on Tuesday, health experts suggested an early intervention with therapies for this category in order to help as much as possible all those affected and families.
"Every year the number of the new diagnosed with autism increases with 30-40%. In this case, Albania must intervene with therapies starting from age 2," said the expert Ariel Como.
According to him, 1 from 68 children is with autism in Albania.
A therapy session with a psychologist costs ALL 2000 and children with autism must have intensive therapies to see improvements, making impossible for their families to afford the costs.
