Most of the northern district of Shkodra has been experiencing a very difficult situation during the recent weeks due to the massive floods. Thousands of hectares of land are currently under water while hundreds of families remained isolated for days due to the waters high level.
The Ana e Malit Administrative Unit manager, Arben Ceni, made a radical suggestion on Sunday on view of the fact despite the continuous appeal by the local authority to the government to proclaim the state of emergency no response has yet been given.
"If central government doesn't seem to care about this city Shkodra may require the autonomy. This district has every resource needed to do so. We have three hydro-powers plant in our district, Theth area, Velipoja's beach and the Lake," said Ceni.
In conclusion he declared that this solution would enable to Prime Minister Edi Rama to remain focused on Seman and Vjosa Rivers while Shkodra will be able to self-administrate these resources.
