The President of the Republic Ilir Meta, in an interview for 'Real Story' talk show on Thursday, spoke of the maritime agreement with Greece, emphasizing that the sea border issue must be resolved once and for all in a fair, sustainable and indisputable way. Meta said the deal would serve both countries and it would settle dispute between two sides. "The maritime border agreement is extraordinary! It is something that doesn't take place every four years, when the governments change. It is extraordinary also due to the fact that another deal signed a decade ago was declared null by our Constitutional Court and because of it we have an inherited problem with the Greek side," said the President, adding that the resolution of this issue once and for all would again serve strong and credible relations between the two countries.

The head of state reiterated the importance of acting in conformity with the Constitution. "The Constitutional Court ruling is in between and we should fully respect this decision. The Constitutional Court ruling is clear, and we will have soon a negotiating team in order to reach a solid agreement as soon as possible. I've never hinted I wouldn't grant authorization to negotiate a deal," Meta added.

President Meta made also clear that the agreement will be based not only the Constitutional Court ruling, but also on the international conventions.
