Record Quantity of Cocaine Seized, New Details Unveiled

The General Director of State Police, Ardi Veliu held press conference on Wednesday unveiling new details in relation to the seizure of some 613 Kg of cocaine in Durresi harbor.



He informed the journalists that the market value of this huge quantity of cocaine seized last night was EUR 180 Million.



"The State Police, acting in previously obtained confidential information and careful assessment of the risk, successfully finalized a raid coded "Last Snow" seized some 613 of cocaine and arrested in flagrance two people. Armand Pezaku and Donaldo Lushaj were arrested by the police.



The cocaine quantity had been concealed in a container loaded with banana boxes that was stored in "Arbri Garden" company premises. Company's owner company, Arber ekaj has been declared wanted by the police on grounds of international drugs smuggling," declared Veliu.



He also reported that the drugs quantity had arrived in Albania on February 19 and had been constantly under surveillance by the police officers. Veliu declared that Albania was meant to be used as transit country due to the fact that a number of European cities were drugs' final destination.
