The various activities organized in Tirana in the framework of Scanderbeg's 550th death anniversary did not include only the historic and cultural areas but also the sportive one.
Some 200 climbers from various parts of Albania but also from Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro, chose to climb the Scanderbegs Mountain as a token of appreciation for this national hero, symbol of Albanian resistance against Ottomans.
They were not scared by the poor weather conditions but continued their climb for more than 6 hours finally reaching the highest peak which bears Scanderbegs name.
This initiative was only the first one in a long line of sportive events dedicated to Albanias national hero that are expected to take place until the end of this year.
