Rozafa Castle, the Interest of Tourist Growing

The Rozafa Castle in Shkodra has been one of the most visited historical-cultural sites of 2017 and has sparked the interest of many Albanian and foreign visitors.
According to the last statistics, last year this castle welcomed around 49,505 tourists, marking an incredibly satisfactory figure.
In comparison with 2016, over the past year the castle had nearly 11 thousand more visitors, which indicates that the interest of tourists has been growing. T
he Rozafa Castle rises above a rocky hill to the west of the city, surrounded by the waters of three rivers: Drin, Buna and Kiri. On the surrounding wall of the castle, which includes about 9 hectares of land, there are clearly distinctive constructions of four periods: Balsha (XIV century), Venetian rule (XV century), Ottoman occupation (XVI-XVII century), and Bushatlin 18th-19th centuries). The castle has a long history of war and is connected with the city of Shkodra. Built during the Illyrian kingdom, it is represented by a legend that shows the promise of the legendary Besa.
