Berat Castle is one of the tourist attractions in Albania that is registering a rapid increase of the domestic and foreign visitors� number. The latest data related to the number of visitors during a period of time from January to December 2017 indicate that some 74019 tourists entered the castle, registering a record compared to the past years.
This figure was only 59327 during the same period of the previous year while two years ago this figure was even lower, only 45747.

The visitors� number increase in the city�s castle has had a positive impact on the city�s economy.

Berati�s Castle is located on a 187 meters high hill, situated in the left side of Osum River. The city-castle walls once upon a time had a length of 1400 meters and extended along a 10 acres distance. Historic documents show that the castle has repeatedly been subject to attacks during different period of times. The castle is also mentioned with the name of Antipatrea in various historic documents of medieval era.
