The Orthodox Cathedral in Kor�a was engulfed by the flames during Saturday morning hours. A huge cloud of dark smoke covered the cathedral upper part generating panic among the Orthodox believers gathered to celebrate the Blessed Water Day.

The prompt intervention of firefighters prevented flames from spreading and causing major damages to the cathedral.

Preliminary verifications on the site indicate that the numerous candles placed by the believers during the mass were the origin of the fire. However the Kor�a police opened an inquiry aiming to shed light on the motives of this incident.
