Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj is optimist that Tirana will present a cleaner image to the visitors during 2018. His optimism is related to the massive response on Saturday to the appeal toward the citizens to join a territory cleaning action at the New Year�s eve. Hundreds of voluntaries joined the municipality staff cleaning around 30 points in different areas of the city identified as problematic due to the high level of pollution.
�The fact that we have only 30 problematic spots in Tirana is the result of an efficient work done by the municipality for the reformation of city�s cleaning system. I am very happy that numerous citizens joined us in this cleaning action ahead of the New Year�s eve. If we keep this rythm Tirana will be a cleaner city during 2018,� said Veliaj.
He also forewarned a micromanagement at the level of the administrative units of all the contracts signed with territory cleaning companies aimed to increase the quality of service provided to the citizens.
�Of course, this was another year where we penalized many companies that did not do the job properly and that is why we will not clean up Tirana in 2018,� declared the Mayor.
