The restoration works in �Saint Mary�s Birth� church, situated in Labove e Kryqit part of Gjirokastra district, unveiled a series of iconographic scene hidden since many years under the layers of a mural picture. This discovery is considered as highly important and is expected to pave the way to a more detailed survey of these iconographic scenes.

The restoration process is currently focused on the removal of the different stratums of color and lime, the intervention in the church�s western columns and the adjacent arch.

The entire process was continuously monitored by the Art Sector specialists, part of the Culture Monuments Institute.
