Albania to Increase Military Presence in Afghanistan

Minister of Defence, Olta Xhacka had a meeting on Friday with the Strategic Commanders, General Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander - Europe and Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Petr Pavel.
During this meeting, minister Xhacka informed the high NATO officials with the will of the Albanian Government to increase the number of Albanian troops part of the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, in response of the new strategy of US President Donald Trump.
The Military Committee, NATO�s highest Military Authority, is in Albania to be part of the Chiefs of Defence (CHoDs) Session from 15-17 September.
The Chiefs of Defence will exchange views on NATO�s Adaptation and receive briefings on the current status of the NATO Command Structure review. Finally, they will elect the next Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, who will take office in 2018.
