The Deputy-Chair of the Academy of Sciences, Myzafer Korkuti, resigned just two days after his election to this post. Through a press statement released on Wednesday he informed that the resignation decision was based on personal motives.

Earlier Korkuti held the post of Academy of Sciences chair while in the last elections he replaced the positions with Gudar Beqira who was elected chairman.

An extraordinary meeting of the Academy of Sciences is now expected to take place on September 11 in order to discuss the institution's reformation. Meantime the newly elected chair, Beqiraj has not made an official declaration about Korkuti's resignation.

The electoral process at the Academy of Sciences was harshly criticized by academician Artan Fuga, while the debate included Prime Minister Rama who threatened to cut off the funds if the Academy will not start a reformation process.
