The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati urged for oppositions cooperation while referring to the countrys European integration process. During a brief speech on Wednesday in the European Summer School he said that now its up to us to strengthen the national unity and dialogue in order to avoid the useless rhetoric.

I hope that the new parliament will demonstrate major willingness toward cooperation between the majority and opposition in relation to this process. 2018 will be a decisive year for Albania on view of the fact that EU enlargement will be discussed next spring. We look forward to a positive decision-making in relation to the negotiations opening, said the minister.

Bushati also said that the fact that no candidate country joined the EU during the first governing mandate makes no great difference.

This happened because no candidate country was ready to be integrated. EU imposed a restrictive criterion. This kind of rhetoric has been decreasing in the Western Balkans. These are all clear evidences that the EU moves not with the kind of speed we would like to move. But when theres willingness for reforms and transportation its hard to say that EU has not responded. Theres been a bipartisan willingness that coincided with justice reform adoption, declared Bushati.
