A large number of police forces encircled during Mondays evening hours the Koha Jone newspaper editorial office while its publisher Nikoll Lesi was escorted in Police Station Nr. 2.

The motive behind this police action was the placement of a emergency staircase which the police claimed that it was done without a proper permit.

Meantime the published Lesi declared that this was just a pretext to exercise pressure on the newspaper following a series of critical articles against some ministers and even the Premier Edi Rama.

According to him the police officers deliberately ignored the permit issued by the Tirana City Hall for the emergency staircase placement considering it a forged document.

PM Rama advisers warned us that we were crossing the red line with our articles but we never thought that something like this would happen, declared Lesi after leaving the police station.
