Electoral Defeat, Parties to Give Money Back to CEC

Some 13 parties should give back to the Central Elections Commission (CEC) a portion of the money they received for the general election campaign funding. The total sum to be given back by the parties is ALL 8.3 Million. A fund of ALL 65 Million was allocated from the state budget to the parties running in June 25th parliamentary elections, in accordance to the parliamentary elections of 2013 results.

The Republican Party (RP) will have to give back the largest sum of money. This party had 4 MPs with party�s logo in 2013 while this time failed to win even a single mandate. RP leader, Fatmir Mediu entered the electoral race under the Democratic Party (DP) logo. As consequence, this party will give back a sum of ALL 2 Million to CEC.

Democratic Party, that obtained 43 mandates from a total of 46 during the parliamentary elections of 2013, will give back of a sum of ALL 1.7 Million.

A sum of ALL 1.1 Million will also be returned to the CEC by the New Democratic Spirit (NDS).

Meantime the Socialist Party (SP) that won 73 mandates will receive an additional fund of ALL 2.8 Million from CEC. A sum of ALL 1.3 Million will also be given by CEC to Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) that won 3 mandates more on June 25. The Party for Justice, Integrity and Unity (PJIU) will be given a fund of ALL 1.4 Million due to a higher number of votes compared to the elections of 2013.
