Nine blazes were registered during the last 24 hours in Gjirokastra, Vlora, Fier and Dibra. 40 firefighters supported by 8 firefighting vehicles battled for hours with the flames aiming to prevent the situation from getting worst.

Some 40 Albanian Armed Forces (AAF) and several helicopters helped the firefighters to place under control the fires in these districts.

The situation is being continuously monitored by the Civil Emergencies experts due to the fact that the risk of new blazes is still present because of the high temperatures.

The Civil Emergencies renewed the appeal to the citizens to immediately report any sign of forest fire to the emergency numbers or the State Police number.
