The Minister of Transports and Infrastructure (MTI), Sokol Dervishi became subject to a verbal attack on Monday by the Socialist representatives in the Legal Issues, Public Administration and Human Rights Parliamentary Committee in relation to an addendum to the contract for Tirana - Elbasan road construction.

Socialist MP, Pandeli Majko demanded a detailed explanation for this addenda to the contract that foresees the use of EUR 35 million for the completion of only 4 km of road.

“We demand a clear explanation. Who’s responsible for this addendum to the contract that exceeds 20% of the road’s cost. Why a fund of EUR 35 million is needed for the completion of only 4 km of road? Clear and detailed explanations are a must,” said Majko.

Meantime a MTI expert explained that the above mentioned fund would be used for the construction of a number of escarpments in Ibe.

“A fund of USD 5 million is needed only for the first segment of this road,” said the expert.
