“PAZZA II” project started for the 7th consecutive year the vaccination campaign against rabies for foxes. This project is being implemented as part of a multi-year plan of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Administration (MARDWA). A modern procedure that guarantees safe immunization at a high rate of red foxes, which are the primary source and distribution of rabies, will be implemented as part of this project. The method of vaccination is similar to the one used since spring 2014. 4 small planes equipped with modern technology will spread the vaccines specially designed for the red fox.

The distribution of the vaccine will be carried by air where small planes will throw in a controlled manner a kind of vaccine that is inserted into a special food for foxes. The bait vaccines will be distributed over a two week period in the whole country, excluding urban centers and water surfaces.

Small airplanes distribute 20 vaccines per kilometer square through special equipment and accurate maps. Around 560,000 vaccine baits will be distributed during next autumn. This process is conducted twice a year, during spring and autumn seasons. A complete immunization of foxes from rabies demands a 5-years vaccination campaign.
