Albania ranks among the countries with the lowest density of roads, including highways, per kilometer per 1,000 inhabitants. A recent report of Euro-Stat on key statistics about countries that have sought to expand toward the European Union (EU) shows that this indicator is the value of 1.4 km / 1,000 inhabitants.

This country leaves behind only Kosovo 1.1 km / 1,000 inhabitants. Meanwhile Montenegro has the highest indicator, even due to the low population, with 13.5 km / 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Macedonia with 6.9 km / 1,000 inhabitants.

Albania has also the lowest index of 137 meters per square kilometer in relation to the density per square kilometer. Furthermore, Albania does not appear good in terms of the rail network, where density per kilometer per 1,000 inhabitants is 0:13, the same indicator of Turkey.

Serbia is the country with the highest density of railway network, both in relation to the total surface area, but also in relation to its population.

Euro-Stat data refers to 2015. In both cases, Albania is below the average of the 28 EU countries as well as in terms of roads, railways as well.
