‘If you ever thought that staples may be used only as paper clips than by all probability you should think twice, on view of the fact that the world’s largest mosaic, part of the Guinness Book of Records, is entirely composed by 1.5 million of staples”.

These words were chosen by CNN to describe the Mother Teresa mosaic realized by the Albanian record-holder, Sajmir Strati. This mosaic, the 10th Guinness record for the internationally known painter, has been place in Kosovo’s National Museum in Pristina.

The artist said that the refugees’ crisis during the war in Kosovo inspired him to realize this work of art bringing Mother Teresa with a smile on her face.

“I wanted to use the wire as the main element of my work after watching the news over the refugees flux in the temporary shelters. Large quantities of staples were used as paper clips during G-20 summit. But, much more need to be done through these papers in order to bring peace to the world and promote a higher life quality for everyone,” said Strati.

The CNN article continues with a narration of Strati’s work that kicked off since November 2016, following Mother Teresa beatification by the Vatican.
