Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta met on Friday with the athletics champions, Luiza Gega nd Izmir Smajlaj, as well the former known athlete Klodiana Shala.

During this meeting Meta dwelt on the necessity of major support by the government to bring for athletics and sports in general and in particular, to elite athlete, while congratulating the interlocutors for their personal successes. According to Meta their triumph in a number of international competitions were motive of loftiness for every Albanian citizen.

“Many years of sacrifice and self-denial are needed to get where you are now. Few can do such a thing, because you need the talent and the dedication, but of course even a strong, moral and financial support by the state and the entire society in all forms and ways,” said Meta, addressing to the athletes.

Meanwhile the athletes thanked Speaker Meta for the for the attention he shows to sport and supporting athletes, adding that they feel proud to have managed to get these very high scores in international arenas.
