The Socialist co-chairman of the ad-hoc commission on electoral reform, Taulant Balla warned on Tuesday that more severe measures will soon be foreseen by the Penal Code for the vote’s abduction.

During a round-table with Civil Society, international representatives and Central Election Commission representatives Balla stressed that April 9 marks the deadline for the Electoral Code amendments approval by this ad-hoc commission.

According to Balla the amendments expected to be approved are related to the electoral campaign expenses decrease in accordance to the law, the number of electoral offices reduction, and the strengthening of legal measures against vote’s abductors.

“So far political parties’ finances and electoral campaign expenses have been far different from the one officially declared. April 9 marks the deadline for the ad-hoc commission on electoral reform. A series of amendments on the law for the parties and campaign expenses are expected to be approved. On the other side the Democratic Party (DP) representatives have been trying to make everything look ridicule. More severe restrictive measures for the electoral crimes will also be foreseen by the electoral code,” said Balla.
