Nishani: Albania, Totally Committed to Fight Terrorism

President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani attended on Thursday the opening of the 5th Forum Global Baku, with the theme: "The future of international relations: the power and interests".

In his speech the head of state praised the topic chosen by the forum’s organizers, on view of the fact that is directly related to the current system of international relations that governs relations between states, regions and organizations.

The Head of State stressed that since World War II this system has kept the world at peace and stability, but at the present moment is failing to prevent or provide solutions to numerous issues and challenges experienced by the society.

“If these challenges and threats, deriving from the latest technological developments, powerful economic turbulences in a much larger scale that earlier crisis, clime changes, conflicts and local wars with dangerous ethnic implications will managed to influence and direct our local policies, that solutions’ finding will be much more difficult,” said Nishani.

President Nishani briefed the audience also with the involvement and contribution of Albania in facing these challenges and threats, stressing that our country, proportionally with its capabilities and capacities, is providing its contribution in regional level and in the context of developments various international.

“My country's commitment to the fight against international terrorism and violent extremism has been active and significant. Numerous legal and social actions have been taken in domestic level, aimed to discourage the extremist elements while promoting ideas and programs that promote respect and inter-religious coexistence,” said the head of state.
