Five components of a criminal group involved in narcotics cultivation in Erseka on July 2016 may be sentenced to a total of 37 years imprisonment. This request was addressed to the Korca First Instance court by the prosecutor on ground of collaboration in narcotics cultivation.

A total of 11.500 cannabis saplings were sequestrated by the police during a raid based on confidential information. The main organizer of this illicit activity, Altin Dauti, managed to elude capture and remains still wanted by the police. Meantime a police raid, conducted on July 16, 2016 led to the arrest in flagrance of Edmond Gjata, Asllan Zyba, Ardian Dauti, Adriatik Begaj. The fifth member of this criminal group, Hasan Hyka, was arrested a few days later by Korca police.

At the end of the trial process prosecution requested 8 years of imprisonment for Edmond Gjata, 8 years of imprisonment for Asllan Zyba, 7 years of imprisonment for Ardian Dauti, 6 years of imprisonment for Adriatik Begaj and 8 years of imprisonment for Hasan Zyka.

The defendants requested a shortened trial, thus benefiting a decrease by 1/3 of the verdict if found guilty.
