Minister Bushati in a Working Visit to Israel

Albanian Foreign Minister Bushati held a working visit to
Israel where he met with Defense Minister Avidgor Lieberman, Minister for
Regional Cooperation and Communication Tzachi Hanegbi, and had specific
consultations for bilateral cooperation and security issues with the dpt.
Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Tzipi Hotolevy and Michael Oren.



At the meeting with Minister Liberman, the talks highlighted
the effective cooperation between the two countries in the security field, the
positive developments in the field of economic cooperation and mutual
willingness to expand its concrete projects in high technology, agriculture,
tourism, energy and water management. The conversation between the two
ministers focused on the latest developments in the Middle East, common
security challenges in the Mediterranean, the strategic cooperation with the
United States and their irreplaceable role for the two respective countries.
Minister Liberman thanked the Albanian government for continued dialogue and
for the support that Albania has given Israel in international forums.



At the meeting with Minister for Regional Cooperation and
Communication Tzachi Hanegbi, discussion focused on the importance that Albania
and Israel give to the creation of a platform of regional cooperation and
efforts to build on the respective regions' bridges in order to build peace,
stability and development sustainable.



During political consultations with the dpt. Ministers
Hotolevy and Oren, the parties focused on the grand coalition efforts in the
fight against terrorism and violent extremism, energy projects in the eastern
Mediterranean and Albania's role as a factor of stability in Adriatic Europe.
The parties exchanged views on the peace process in the Middle East and the
nuclear agreement with Iran. In the latter matter Bushati said that Albania's
position is in line with the European Union and in accordance with our
country's commitments as a NATO member.



Israeli interlocutors reiterated the gratitude of the people
of Israel for the Albanian people in saving Jews during World War II and
informed the Minister Bushati that at history textbooks in the state of Israel
a separate chapter is already included that shows this unparalleled act of
Albanians.



At the conclusion of his visit to Israel, Minister Bushati
held an open lecture at the Center for Security Studies at Bar-Ilan University,
on "Southeast Europe's contribution to the security of the
Mediterranean".



Bushati underlined that "no project of European
security can be conceived without a Mediterranean parameter." In this
context, "cooperation in the field of energy security can help us to
transform the interdependence between Mediterranean shores into a stable and
long-term prosperity".
