Kodheli Calls on NATO for Major Support to the Balkans

Defense Minister, Mimi Kodheli is participating in the Defense Ministerial of NATO, which is being held at the headquarters of NATO, Brussels from February 15 to February 16. On the first day of the meeting the Defense Ministers of NATO discussed and took decisions on the strengthening of Alliance’s collective defense.

Minister Kodheli underlined that Albania’s is focused on the commitments fulfillment, for a comprehensive approach of NATO over the allies’ defense. 

“Albanian considers of crucial importance and welcomes the discussion on risks and challenges deriving from the Alliance’s southern borders,” declared Kodheli, urging the Alliance toward a major support for this region in the fulfillment of security and defense reforms. 

Speaking over the recent developments in Kosovo the minister defined KFOR peacekeeping mission a history of success.

“This successful mission cannot and should not be placed in a road-cross due to the current situation. Major focus needed to transform this mission into the main pillar of Kosovo security and stability,” said the Albanian Defense Minister.
