Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj presented on Tuesday the electronic parking project, emphasizing the fact that this is the most modern way to avoid chaos in the city. According to him every citizen will be given the chance to pay his car parking for one hour through a message to 50 500 number.

“A warning message will then be sent to the citizen 10 minutes before the parking time ending,” said Veliaj, adding that this way of doing places Tirana beside other evolved European cities where there’s no physical contact in parking lots.

“Tirana becomes the first Albanian city where the physical contact in a parking lot is completely avoided. Parking employees will be equipped with a tablet that will enable them to insert the vehicle’s plate and verify the remained time. If the parking fee has not been paid a fine will be imposed on the citizen,” said Veliaj.
