Shkodra Archbishop, Monsignor Angelo Massafra urged the state to protect the citizens, while expressing his support for the “Ammunition-Free Albania” initiative. The latest argued that weapons’ possession by the citizens is related to their fear from the current reality.

“People are afraid, thus forced to be armed. I call on the state to protect the citizens, as the best way to urge the citizens to hand over their weapons,” declared Massafra.

Meantime the Minister of Interior, Sajmir Tahiri declared that weapons are a threat for country’s future.

“We should disarm our minds and the community from the violence and repression that place us against each other and use weapons. Young generations should never refer to the weapon and violence but the logic and knowledge. Our initiative may become functional only through cooperation with the society,” said Tahiri.
