The Albanian National Informative Service operates beyond control while State Supreme Audit (SSA) lacks the necessary capacities for a correct expertise of the financial activity audit.

These facts were evidenced by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) in a recently released report. This institute underlines that these institutes are not controlled by the executive and their activity monitoring seems no senseless. This element becomes even clearer by the language used in this report.

“Security Institutions, especially NIS have eluded SSA radar. Does this mean that security sector has reached such levels that allow him to keep a low profile, thus eluding the SSA radar? Odds are scarce. Anyway, no clear and official explanation about this issue has been given so far. On the other side SSA has repeatedly declared that the audits quantity and performance quantity and quality increase ranks among this institution’s key priorities. Furthermore, SSA audits, including these of the performances, often encounter difficulties and challenges of an interior and exterior nature,” underlines the IDM report.
