The first stone in Tirana’s ‘Scanderbeg’ square was placed on Friday by Prime Minister, Edi Rama and Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj. In a brief speech the chief of executive said that this project delay was a positive element, because according to him Tirana’s main square will now be transformed into a unique carpet with stones from every Albanian territory.

He used an ironic language while mentioning the former Mayor, Lulzim Basha project for the square, saying that “The diaper placed in front of the citizens was being replaced with a proper project”.

“This is a renaissance that is near its completion, a fact that may be easily noticed by those willing to see the reality. The project that is being finalized today is not the entire project that started many years ago and was then replaced by a large diaper placed in front of the citizens.

The new project has a new dimension, in the surface and content aspect. The entire square will be a unique carpet composed by stones from every Albanian territory,” said PM Rama.
