Deputy Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Valentina Leskaj addressed a letter on Tuesday to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe ( CoE) President, Pedro Agramunt.

In this letter she urges President Agramunt to react over the illicit arrest in France of the leader of Alliance for Kosovo Future (AKF), Ramush Haradinaj.

“In quality of the head of the Albanian Assembly’s permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE I want to declare that Haradinaj arrest based on a outdate warrant issued by Serbia is unexpected and totally unacceptable. This is a flagrant violation of the basic human rights. The leader of AKF, Haradinaj has been acquitted by the Hague Tribunal for every charges prior to 2004, thus his detainment is illicit and absurd,” wrote Leskaj, adding that this way of doing infringes the Pristina - Belgrade dialogue.

She called on Parliamentary Assembly of CoE, president Agramunt to personally contribute in the immediate release of Haradinaj.
