Apart from seasonal flu, Albania is threatened even by the avian flu, known as the bird flu. Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti, declared on Monday that this flu circulates in Greece and Croatia, in Balkans and EU countries and despite the fact that Albania is still not infected the risk is very high and the country is on alert.

"The only way to prevent it, is to implement all the preventive measures, disinfectants and implementation of more advanced standards of breeding technology," said Panariti.

He declared that Albania has not any case of bird flu at the moment of speaking, but despite this fact his ministry is on alert to cope with any situation.
