Elbasan police forces arrested on Saturday two people convicted on retrial by the Serious Crimes Court of killing 6 National Guard officers and injuring 16 of them in a grave episode on 1997 that became known as “Cerrik Massacre”.

Meti Bozi, 58, has been condemned to life imprisonment by the Court of First Instance of Tirana while and Skender Cano, 61 has been condemned to serve 13 years in prison. The Serious Crimes Court of Appeal had issued a non-culpability verdict for them on September 2012, but the High Court overruled this verdict thus the case was sent back to the Court of First Instance for retrial.
