Wire-Tapping, Former General Director of Prisons Denies Knowledge

Former General Director of Prisons, Artur Zoto was summoned on Monday in quality of witness by the Inquiring Committee for the wire-tapping device, IMS-Catcher. His appearance in front of the MPs was linked to the suspicions that this device has been used in prison 302 premise.

Democrat MP, Flamur Noka referred to a previous document unveiled by former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha who claimed that the wire-tapping device entrance inside prison’s premise had been allowed by the General Director, Zoto. The last said that air pollution measurement was used as pretext, hiding the real motives of this act.

In his testimony in front of the Inquiring Committee former General Director of Prisons,  Zoto denied any knowledge of this issue. He also denied the fact that a similar request had been addressed to him by the Interior Minister, Sajmir Tahiri.
