Brunei Sees No Obstacles in Recognizing Kosovo’s Independence

TIRANA – “Brunei sees no obstacles or problems in recognizing the independence of Kosovo,” a statement by the Albanian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday referring to the visit and meeting of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto with Sultan of Brunei Hassan al Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
Haxhinasto was received in Brunei in a special audience by Sultan Hassan al Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and had a special meeting with the Foreign Minister and Minister of Trade Mohamed Bolkiah.
In the audience with Sultan of Brunei, Haxhinasto assessed that the ties between the two countries should strengthen further in fields of mutual interest. He stated that the exchange of official visits would help bilateral cooperation and invited Sultan Waddaulah for a visit to Tirana in the near future.
Chief of Albanian diplomacy and Sultan of Brunei discussed the latest developments in Balkan region. Haxhinasto underlined that the recent accord between Kosovo and Serbia had created grounds for the inclusion of Kosovo in regional initiatives and new recognitions. Haxhinasto asked him that Brunei recognized Kosovo’s independence.
