For the first time, Albania ranked this year as the country with the highest level of bad loans (NPL) in the Region. Albania passed even Serbia, the country that leads this list, showing that all the strategy used to reduce this phenomenon does not work.
Referring to the latest data disclosed by the Albanias National Bank during the month of August the level of the non-refundable loans goes up to 21.4% of the total, from 18% that was before.
The reasons are some big bankruptcy which had a chain effect and the crisis on oil sector. Albania is followed by Serbia with a level of bad loans to 20.2% and Bosnia with 12.1 and Macedonia with 11.7%. Kosovo has the lowest level of bad loans with only 5.3%.
