Excise collections over January – August, this year amounted to ALL 27,565 mln. In comparison to 8-month period 2015 revenues are Lek 1.617 mln higher.
According to statistics on preliminary fiscal indicators published by the Ministry of Finance, they reflect the increase of tobacco quantities estimated at 19 %, alcoholics at 35.8 %, wine at 14 %, energy drinks 13 %, coffees which has maintained the same rates, fuel by 3.2%.
The Ministry of Finance informs that the only product which has seen dropping imports in 2016 compared to 2015 is beer. The Customs Directorate General is making a detailed analysis of the situation, consulting with importers and producers to establish the cause.
Apart from efficient administration, the reasons behind the positive performance are related to the normalized situation of imports’ flow which has not been affected by the changed taxation rates applied to tobacco in 2016.
