Government Approves New Taxes for Online Shopping and Postal Delivery

Instead of lowering the fiscal burden, as previously promised, Prime Minister, Edi Rama and the Minister of Finances, Arben Ahmetaj decided to add two more new taxes to the Albanian citizens. A large number of consumers is expected to be infringed by those taxes considering the fact that the online shopping marked an significant increase last years.

During the last meeting of the executive, the online shopping limit was lowered to Euro 22. A limit of Euro 45 was preliminary discussed for every the online shopping but then the limit descended at Euro 22.

Meanwhile postal delivers will be taxes up to Euro 45.

Currently, the customs duty on good purchased or sent by someone else from outside Albania is paid only if the total value of the package, including transport expenses is less than Euro 150. This rule does not apply for products such as alcoholic beverages, perfumes, tobacco and its products.
