The Energy Distribution Authority is conducting a number of investments in the southern coastal area aiming to guarantee a good tourist season in the aspect of energy supply. But not everyone knows that the majority of electric cabins in this area belong to the private sector.
Thus major investments are needed not only from EDA but also from the tourist businesses operating in this area, in order to guarantee a qualitative energy supply. In accordance to the EDA regulation private businesses are responsible for the electric cabins maintenance, a legally obligatory process in accordance to the EDA technological cards.
But in fact the electric cabins situated in Dhermi and Himara beaches face a continuous risk of damages due to the lack of maintenance by the private businesses. Despite three-months in advance warning by the EDA the tourist operators in this area do not seem to care about this fact. EDA informs that energy interruption will soon be effectuated if no measure is taken aiming to protect the tourists' life.
