Chairman of Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha has reacted on Wednesday following the decision of EU Foreign Ministers for postponing negotiations with Albania for another year.
Basha stated that crime and corruption are holding hostage the future our country and that even a year from now the decision taken will be a negative one.
"Opening of accession talks for Albania was postponed for another year. If we don't fight crime and corruption we fill face another negative decision. It's high time we take a new turn to save Albania and our European future," said Basha.
Albania was on the verge of opening accession negotiations with the EU on 28 June. But last Tuesday's preparatory meeting of EU Foreign Ministers has decided to postpone the decision until June of 2019. The reason it behind are the unsolved problems of Albania, like the lack of judicial reform, organized crime, and corruption, according to EU Ministers.
